A solo journaling and drawing game about preparing to summon a demon to enact your revenge.

Content Warning: This game is pretty broad and gestural, but it’s worth noting that it centers on summoning demons and it implies the possibility of harm to innocent or uninvolved people as a consequence. If either of those things are uncomfortable, proceed with caution.

You didn’t want it to come to this, but here we are. You have been profoundly wronged by someone and the only recourse is to enlist the help of hell itself to exact your revenge. You’ve done the forbidden reading, gathered candles and goat’s blood, and steeled yourself for what you must do.
Draw a large circle on a piece of paper, and then draw a smaller circle within it, leaving a wide band of space in between them. Inside that band, draw 5 smaller circles, evenly spaced, where you’ll etch the more detailed symbols of your ritual. You may embellish this outline of your summoning circle with lines of runic text, a pentagram in the center of the inner circle, and so forth.
As soon as the outline of the circle is there, you can already feel the darkness below pressing upwards, prodding and seeking for a membrane through which to burst. If performed carelessly, the ritual may still be incomplete by the time something horrible rises out from below.
Follow the Ritual Prompts below in order. For each one, roll three 6-sided dice and compare the result to the options provided based on the number of 6s you rolled. For each step in the ritual, you may also draw a tarot card to accompany the dice result, providing additional details to aid your interpretations and help build your story.
For each result, fill in one of the 5 smaller circles you drew in the previous step with a symbol or sketch that represents your answer to the prompts for this step. When in doubt, lean towards the arcane and iconographic, relying on symbolic images and objects to communicate your meaning.
As you progress, other die results besides 6 will be counted as if they’re 6s. At any point during the game, if you roll three results that count as 6s (including actual 6s), jump to The Demon is Loose to resolve the finale of your story. Otherwise, before any step, you may choose to back down and end the ritual. If you do so, jump to The Ritual was Averted and follow the instructions provided.
As the stages of the ritual progress, the barriers between our world and gradually weaken, bringing with it an growing risk of something coming through before you’re ready. I hope you know what you’re doing.
